I almost just had a heart attack! Just over a month ago I changed cell phone plans. Verizon grandfathered me back into my old plan because it was cheaper than their new plans. It was supposed to be 450 minutes a month, 1,000 texts per month, and 2gb of data. Every week I’ve been checking the status of my minutes to make sure I don’t go over and now I’m close to the end of my billing cycle so I realized I should check my texts. I logged in and I didn’t have a text messaging plan! I was paying per message! I nearly passed out imagining what that bill would be! I don’t text nearly as much as I used to, but I still text quite a bit.
I immediately called Verizon to correct the issue and they added on texts and backdated it to the beginning of my billing cycle. They also offered me another plan of unlimited minutes and texts and the same amount of data for $30 less a month. The catch? Extended my contract another year. I thought it over and extended the contract for the cheaper plan. It seems like data plans are just ridiculous wherever you look these days and $60 for all of that is pretty good. Not sure I’d find that somewhere else without a family plan. And my data plan is so intertwined with my life, that’s not an expense I’m willing to completely eliminate.
Anyways, I’m glad I thought to check my text messages…that could have ended up really bad!
