Simply Save Week In Review: 4/16-4/22

Week In Review

Happy Earth Day! This week has been a little weird financially since I’m still in the process of getting my bank accounts switched over, but it all works out! Here’s the Simply Save Week In Review:

  • Pay Day!
    • $400 went into my 457b.
    • $200 went into emergency savings.
    • 6.5% of my wages went into a pension and my employer matched 7.5%.
  • I earned a $5 Amazon gift card through Bing Rewards.
  • I earned a free drink with Starbucks Rewards. (I actually don’t dislike the new program as much as I thought I might.)
  • I earned $17 selling more things.
  • I cashed in credit card reward points for a $25 Amazon gift card.

Last weekend this book mysteriously arrived on my doorstep. It had been on my Amazon wish list but wasn’t in my recent orders. There was no packing slip and while Amazon could confirm it was a gift, they couldn’t tell me who sent it, as they’d asked for it to be confidential. I spent all day trying to figure out who sent it. (I feel fortunate to have quite a few friends that would do a random act of kindness like this!) Finally late that night, I learned it was from my friends at PawPADs! (I learned of this amazing service dog organization several years ago when my Army unit volunteered there for a weekend. Randy and Linda have supported my endeavors ever since.) Awhile ago Randy had mentioned sending me this book and so I added it to my wish list, which is more of a “to be read” list. I assumed he had a used copy I could borrow. So I was very touched and surprised to receive a beautiful brand new hardcover! It turns out it wasn’t really supposed to be a surprise, but Amazon missed the note, but it sure made for a fun day of trying to figure out where it came from! I’m looking forward to reading it, although I’ve been warned to have a box of tissues nearby!
