2017 is off to a good start as far as the mortgage progress goes! I finally was able to sell my VW back to the dealership and made enough money to pay off my “new” car, save a little for an upcoming trip, and put about $8,000 towards my mortgage. It felt awesome! The whole scandal with VW was a crummy situation, but I have to say, I did come out in a pretty good place.
I should be getting my taxes back soon and that will be another $1,700 towards the mortgage. I’m waiting for the VA to reimburse me for that HR test I took last fall, so that will be another $300. I got a 2.5% raise at the beginning of the year, so that helps as well.
This month did have some expenses though…5 nights in a hotel for my sister’s boot camp graduation, car insurance renewal, new passport, and PLANE TICKETS TO LONDON! Yes, I’m going to London! It was kind of a last minute opportunity that I couldn’t say no to. I’m going in March with my best friend for a full week. I can’t wait!
Like I said, January was also my sister’s boot camp graduation. It was so great to see her. I’m so incredibly proud. I didn’t get the nice, warm Texas weather I was hoping for, but it was still a really good trip.
Mortgage, London, seeing my sister…that’s about all there is to share! I hope your year is off to a great start.
